Does this work on PNG files too?
You can upload a PNG, but the compressed output is always saved as JPG, since JPG's lossy compression is what shrinks file size; if you need to keep transparency, use Convert Image instead.
What quality setting should I use?
75-85% is usually a good balance between visible quality and file size for photos; go lower only if file size matters more than sharpness.
