Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an Anthropic API key?

Only for AI Auto-Enhance mode, which sends your image to Claude for analysis. Manual slider adjustments and presets work without a key. Get a free key at console.anthropic.com.

Is my image sent to a server?

Only for AI analysis: a compressed version of your image is sent to the Anthropic API to get enhancement recommendations. The actual pixel processing always happens in your browser.

What does "Sharpness" do?

Sharpness applies an unsharp mask convolution to the image data, increasing edge contrast and making details appear crisper without upscaling.

Can I use the presets without AI?

Yes! All preset modes (Portrait, Landscape, Cinematic, etc.) apply pre-defined slider values without any API call. Only the "AI Auto" mode uses Claude.

What's the difference between Highlights and Exposure?

Exposure brightens or darkens the whole image. Highlights only affects the brightest areas, letting you recover blown-out skies or bright regions without affecting shadows.
